Sara Hurley

Sara is a storyteller, facilitator and producer who has worked within the health and social care sector and as an actor/facilitator in medical role play and medical humanities teaching.

Her participatory workshops support and encourage creativity and expression across multiple art forms (story, drama, writing, art and making) to develop communication, speaking, listening, confidence, empathy and relationship building skills.

She has worked extensively as a simulated patient from undergraduate to consultant level for over 15 years - a role that combines simultaneous coaching with improvisational acting skill and a high level comprehension of personal development needs within health sector work environments.

As a creative producer Sara knows how to make things happen. She is a friendly, organised and accomplished initiator, collaborator, project manager and lead artist with a proven track record of developing partnerships, fundraising and curating projects. Currently, she job shares the role of coordinator of the Torbay Culture and Arts Network.

A drama graduate from Exeter University and ex-student of Insider Art’s, Art Therapy in Mental Health course, she has had a book published, based on a ground breaking project with mixed-heritage families living in a rural area, and has contributed a chapter to ‘Storytelling for a Greener World’.

She is a member of Equity and the Society for Storytelling and holds an Enhanced DBS certificate.
